This picture was taken in the large yard at the big house between Dick and Carol's and where Aunt Pat and Uncle Eddie lived. The big house was Dick's parent's house at the time. As you can see, it was being sided with white asbestos (I think) siding. Bill was doing the job with the help of others, including my dad.

It was always a big party/picnic when our relatives came out from the "big city". That would be Rochester. Usually they came out in the summer.

Seated is Gail Brightman (around Dick's age) and her mother Thelma. Thelma was the daughter of Old Grandpa Better's sister Minnie. That is how they are related to us. Next to Thelma is your Grandma Ann and next to her is Aunt Ella who was my great aunt --- she was Old Grandpa Better's sister. His other sister, Emma lived in Beverly Hills and was a seamstress. Ella married Ike Levison but he died and I never met him. They had no children. Emma never married and Minnie had two children aside from Thelma. I never met them. Aunt Ella worked as a saleslady at McFarlin's fine men's store in downtown Rochester and lived in a little apartment around the corner. The building had one of those cage like elevators.

Seated in front of the seated people is Danny and the charming, chubby. only  girl cousin, Linda AKA Loupie.

Standing is Aunt Jean (Dick's mother), Old Grandpa Better, my mother Ginny, Old Grandma and Aunt Pat, no doubt looking for Gary who was probably with Butch and not in the picture.
This one is a puzzle in so many ways.  Mysteriously. I believe this was taken at Aunt Poochie's on Conesus lake. That certainly looks like their neighbor's boy David Duncan and Kevin in the middle but as much as that looks like your dad, I have no explanation for the outfit or any memory of it.
Old Grandma in the back; Aunt Ella and Jean with Danny on her lap.
Must be Gary's high school graduation and that would be little Darcy, eh?
Uncle Eddie and your dad. Danny, Gary and your guess is as good as mine. I think Danny was praying that Gary wouldn't hit him. Ha. That could be in Cocoa so that could be Kevin. Eddie and Pat moved to Florida for 9 months in 1959/60. They stayed with us in Jacksonville for the school year but before that, they were in Cocoa for a few days but couldn't find a place to live.
Could that be your mom with longer hair, holding Tricia? Marty with feet in pool? And you almost hiding your eyes? Definitely "the pool".  But who is the other child, next to the lady?  Arrrrgh.
Your father had lighter hair as a baby, so it's either Ann with him or with Danny. I will get out my black and white albums and look for pictures of them. It looks like the lilac tree with the magnolia tree next to it, up on "the hill" though, which would mean the boy is too old to be Butch.  I see an Easter basket on the ground which is more evidence that it is Danny. Why? Didn't your dad and I have Easter baskets? Yes, but not up on the hill.
Oh, boy. Uncle Eddie and your grandpa, Bill ---- notice the paper in his shirt pocket and he's drinking coffee.  Then you have your mom and dad.  Seated is Uncle Louie (Dick's father) and on his lap is Marty. Next to him is Pearl, who really isn't related. but she married Uncle Carl (who was only related by marriage) who is standing with his back to the camera. Carl had been married to Old Grandma's sister Margaret, but Margaret passed away after teaching Butch and me to play Canasta. That wasn't why she passed ---- she was a diabetic as was Old Grandma's brother Neil, who died very young (and I never knew him.) When Carl remarried we took Pearl in as part of the family.  (Wasn't that lovely of us?) I think Carl passed not too long after this picture was taken.  Seated in red, on the end is Carol ------- to the best of my guessing ability.
Grandma Ann and your dad. See how light his hair was.
Butchie summer of 1944. Would be just over a year old.
Such a war torn background in Mt. Morris. This was the back of the buildings on Main St. Old Grandma and Grandpa lived above a tavern, across the hall from the telephone company.

Dickie standing above Eddie with Butch and Linda in his arms.
After we were baptized at St. John's Episcopal church. Picture taken in fron of 11 Grove St.
Bill, Ann and Butch. (We had to be baptized before being confirmed when we got to be twelve.)
You may have this of Ann, Bill, and my mother Ginny at 11 Grove St.
Grandma Ann and my mother, Ginny in Cocoa in 1960. That was either Avon Place where Bill, Ann and Butch lived or at Aunt Poochie's. .
