Southern Gentleman Blues

He was with her all day; he was with her all night,
Why is she in his bed all-alone?
Why oh why, now how can she snooze?
She's got the southern gentleman blues.

She couldn't get past - - - that tether he had,
Holding himself on a leash,
Why oh why, what more could she do?
She's got the southern gentleman blues.

All she had on - - - was the shirt on her back,
But he just sang her a tune,
Why oh why, didn't he get all the clues?
She's got the southern gentleman blues.

What would it take, she was asking herself,
To get him to lie next to her,
Why oh why, he had nothing to lose,
She's got the southern gentleman blues.

He did fix her breakfast, they laughed and they talked,
Guess that is better anyway,
Why of why,  but she really knew,
She's got the southern gentleman blues.
